Good News

Sherman-----we are glad to read the latest news posted by Kevin on the 24th. Sounds like you are getting stronger with each day. Is that hospital room getting a bit closed in on you? Surely it will all be worth it. We are still praying for your recovery and hope you will be back home soon.

Thinking of you and Wishing you the Best

Sherman: Was thinking of you today and thought it would be fun to look at our old Tatler of 1954. Those were wonderful days of good health and lots of fun. Your Senior picture had beside it: "Like a wise old bird -- often seen but never heard." You got over the "quiet" but not the "wise".

Does your doctor know you are doing taxes in your hospital bed? Now, that will surely get you well in a hurry!

Take care, get well and hurry home.

ABOUT THIS BLOG

This blog has been created to keep family and friends updated on Sherman's progress while at the Medical Center in Bowling Green. Please know that Eleanor is receiving your calls, and although she is not able to call everyone back at this time, she sends thanks for your continuing prayers and support. In lieu of visiting, we ask that you post your thoughts and well wishes here, by clicking on the WORDS OF ENCOURAGEMENT tab above.

PLEASE NOTE: The doctor's suggest that visiting be limited to immediate family at this time, so that restful healing can take place.

THE DETAILS...
Sherman has aortic valve stenosis. This means that 60% of the heart valve does not open. He also has mitral valve leakage and two partially blocked coronary arteries. To complicate matters even further, he has blood culture positive for staph. He needs open heart surgery to repair the valves and blockages, however, his heart is currently too weak to withstand the surgery. They placed a pump inside his heart on 2/5/10, to assist profusion of other vital organs. The pump seems to have helped dramatically, but the heart fails to respond appropriately when the pump is turned off for cleaning/flushing. We do not know when surgery can take place at this point, as the doctors are waiting for his heart to get stronger.
